Jenni Colwill is a self taught Melbourne artist whose work offers a unique perspective of space, colour and pattern. Her travels in Australia, Asia and America provide a strong base for the development of the images depicted in her re-imagined landscapes and lively portraits. Her early experience in animation and working in graphic design gave her a sound foundation in drawing. In 2006 she connected with Roy Churcher, a widely respected Australian artist and teacher, who as her mentor influenced her art over the next five years, developing a bold use of colour and form which conveys the mood and light of her subjects. Jenni is fascinated by the power of perception and natural forms to generate statements of doubt and wonder. She often depicts outlines of figures against the landscape, to show the true colours of Australia layered through the figures. |
