I had a passion for art at school but felt inadequate compared to other students so didn’t continue with art at all until after my family were grown and off my hands.
I became really interested in doing graphic arts and web design in my early forties and set up my own small business called “Romantics Downunder” . During this time I stumbled across a web page that recommended a book “The new drawing on the right side of the brain” author Dr Betty Edwards.
I decided to purchase the book and started to wade through all the exercises, of which there are many. It took me six months to complete them all but I had gained so much confidence I felt that I could sketch anything.
I joined Glenroy Art Group later in 2002 where I have learnt some invaluable lessons about my art work. I would not have become the artist I am today with out this group of wonderful people. I have been awarded 11 paintings of the month, work of the year 2004 and 2006 and Artist of the year and work of the year 2007.
Late 2004 I became a student of Gwendoline Krumins I was with Gwen for 5 years until the end of 2009 she became my mentor and friend.
She is a brilliant teacher and artist. Thanks Gwen.
Since 2002 I have sold many paintings & sketches both within Australia and overseas and they are in private collection at ANZ and Toll/Ipec.
My passion is portraiture both painting and sketches and will take commissions from both photos and life. I also love all other type of painting from landscapes, street scapes (especially with any type of reflections), still life, and abstract.
