ARTIST BIO

From Los Angeles, California and residing currently in Melbourne, Australia, Maureen Barten's artwork is passionate, honest and always an experience in magical color.  

 

Working predominantly en plein air, her use of aquarelle with pen and ink is a medium combination that readily matches the spontaneity and energy seen in her work. 

 

In her studio, Maureen favours acrylic and mixed media on large canvases where she continues her exploration of colour, light and the physical energy behind each mark.

 

Having earned her Bachelor's degree in Fine Art at the University of California, Los Angeles, Maureen has worked in the arts all her life.  With a passion for travel as well, her portfolio is rich with landscape, portraiture and flavours from around the world.
