ARTIST BIO

Margaret grew up in Fremantle W.A. and has always been involved in a great range of creative works.  After her marriage to Derryck, they moved to country New South Wales and then to Melbourne where they operated together a highly successful soft furnishing and decorating business  specialising in creating sophisticated window styles and designs and the manufacture of all fabrics into quality products.  Later they continued in business together running a health & fitness centre for many years and in the hospitality industry operating motels including the Balnarring Village Motor Inn.

Marg started her art journey at the end of 2006 under the watchful eye of friend and wonderful tutor Cesar Sanchez, at his private studio in Bittern on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria.   She considers herself very fortunate to have been trained by Cesar, to receive so much from his lifetime of painting experience and extremely extensive art knowledge.

From her own studio at home, Margaret paints mostly in oils and is inspired by nature on the Mornington Peninsula.  She paints lots of birds and animals specialising in all breeds of cows, plus flowers, beach scenes, still life and wonderful portraits of children and pets.  She enjoys realism and detail in her creations and has paintings now in WA, NT, NSW, Qld & Victoria & USA.  Marg has successfully exhibited and sold many paintings at the Red Hill Show, and Art Shows including Mornington, Flinders, Deniliquin, Tyers, Leongatha, Korumburra, Knox, Casey, Terang, Sorrento, Camberwell, Somers Art Fair, Hastings & others.  She is a keen member of Peninsula Arts Society Inc. at Frankston South and has been a student of Glenn Hoyle and Colin Johnson and continues to be involved in art activities there.

She has been the winner of the People's Choice Award at the Leongatha Rotary Art Show in 2012, at the Somers Arts Fair in October 2013 & again in 2014 & 2015, the Mornington Rotary Art Show in January 2013 and the Peninsula Arts Society in 2014 & 2019\ Sorrento Art Show, Hastings Art Show.  Marg has successfully exhibited at Gallery No. 9 in Melbourne and continues to produce wonderful real-life portraits of all types of cattle.
