David Rah was born in Seoul, South Korea and majored in Fine Arts at Korean National College of Arts. For 15 years, he used a consistent practice of drawing and painting and explored the medium of oils through portraits and landscapes. He held many art exhibitions throughout Korea and was employed as a designer at Sunjin Cards Corporation.
David was also a Korean soldier in the Vietnam War, and during that time, he painted portraits for the U.S. Army. He began to investigate the concept of life, fragility and human identity and developed a personal style that evolved from years of clarification and deconstruction of the Renaissance style.
David moved to Australia in 1986 with his family. He took a special interest in Australian culture and multicultural experiences while working with clients in his Moorabbin art studio. He achieved a simple and uncomplicated style that expresses stillness, softness and natural beauty.
David is an active member of the local arts community and is currently member of Korean Artist Association Melbourne as well as The Victorian Artist’s Society. |
